It can be tough to know which iPhone model you own, especially since newer generations like the iPhone 13 and iPhone 15 look alike. Fortunately, each iPhone has a unique model number starting with A followed by four digits, such as A1865. In this blog, you’ll learn how to find your model number and see which model it refers to. We've provided a handy table to let you check it right away.
The model number provides exact details about your iPhone including model, production year and region. It’s useful when selling, choosing repairs or buying accessories. On newer iPhones, you can’t see the model externally, so this method is essential.
Go to Settings > General > About. In the section “Model Number” you’ll first see an M or N number (sales number). Tap it to reveal the A‑number (model number).
For iPhone 7 and earlier models, the A‑number is printed under the Apple logo on the back.
Some models have the model number visible in the SIM tray, especially international variants.
